Books

I just finished The Chosen by
The Chosen whose author is Chaim Potok wrote 291 pages. Those pages were very hard to get through. At the beginning of the book there was nothing to hook me into it. Chaim Potok constantly used Jewish terms that were sometimes hard to understand and remember what they meant.

This book is about two Jewish boys and their lives together during WW II. These two boys Reuven and Danny are playing baseball when Reuven gets hit in the eye with the ball Danny hit. Reuven is rushed to the hospital to get pieces of his glasses out of his eye. The two boys soon become really good friends because of this incident. Then Danny’s father, Reb Saunders, forbids Danny to talk or by Reuven over a rally that Reuven’s father held. Once the tension lifts from the 2 Jewish parties they can once again talk to each other. Reuven is afraid to tell his father that he doesn’t want to become a Rabbi. Buy his father tells him that he already knows and that he is fine with it. Then Danny and Reuven part ways and go and pursue their dream careers.
That’s a brief summary of how the novel goes. As you can see there isn’t much excitement that happens in this book. I would recommend this book to someone who wants a challenge. This book was hard to understand with all the Jewish terms and hard to get into. There isn’t really much of a plot. The biggest complication was either having glass in Reuven’s eye or them not being able to talk to each other. So if you want a challenging book or you like a slow book or you like both then this is the right book for you to read. Personally I didn’t care for this book at all.

I’m having a hard time figuring out what book to read next. Thompson said that the book for horrors English would do something with reading a book in class then doing a group reading. I actually don’t remember exactly what he told me, I was half listening and half not. I should really get out of the habit of zoning out whenever a teacher talks to me... Yea that would be a really good idea. Anyways so if you know any good books to have me read for school please tell me, because I am stuck trying to figure it out. I want to read something new, I have read many books and I can’t figure out what to read next. I like mystery and adventure books. I like the books that you can’t set down and you want to continue reading to see what happens next. So if you know any books like that please tell me. I would greatly appreciate that. Thanks

Birthdays

Do all those quizzes on the internet tell the truth? I see a lot of people taking those then feeling better about themselves or worse. Sometimes they just want to see what things mean. So I decided to see if these quizzes tell the truth or they are just random.
So I choose the birthday topic to test this. I know my strengths and what I am like. So hopefully this will come out as accurate as possible. I took a test that supposed to say what my birthday means. My birthday is Sep. 15, and this is what it came up with.
You take life as it is, and you find happiness in a variety of things.
You tend to be close to family and friends. But it's hard to get into your inner circle.
Making the little things wonderful is important to you, and you probably have an inviting home.
You seek harmony with others, but occasionally you have a very stubborn streak.

Your strength: Your intense optimism
Your weakness: You shy away from exploring your talents
Some of these results are accurate and some are not so lucky. The green part is what I found was accurate. However, the yellow highlighted part is what I didn’t find accurate. I am not very optimistic when it comes to life. Sure I can be at times, but mostly I am neutral. I could go one way or the other. I usually don’t take sides.  I don’t like sharing my talents and I tend to hid them. That part is true, and along with the other highlighted part.
I took another test that supposedly predicts about you. It predicted that I’m nurturing.
Ever since you were born, you've loved being a caretaker.
Whether you're caring for people or animals, you love making others feel good.
You don't stress or worry much in your life. You think it's important not to sweat the small stuff.
You have a soft spot in your heart for children and pets. You are drawn to anyone in need.
This time the blue is the truth and the red is not the truth and the pink is in the middle.  I do love animals and I love helping out people. On the other hand I do stress out a lot in life. I don’t take it easy and not worry as it says I do. I stress a lot. I have to get things done in a certain order and if I don’t I freak out. It depends on the day on thinking the small stuff is important. I mostly do but there are those days were I don’t think it is important.
I should have done more tests but I have come to a conclusion. These tests in this instance have a pretty accurate prediction. I mostly highlighted the truth. There was only one or two things that I thought were not true. The tests are fun to do and could or couldn’t be true. So if you just love doing them then remember they aren’t always true. So don’t put all of your trust in them. Otherwise have fun.

Eventful Week

This week has been a very eventful week. There have been so many things that went on. First, my dog had her puppies, hung out with Brenna Sorenson, the Davis High Marching Band beat American Fork, and I had another marching band competition.
My dog, Daisy, had her puppies early Tuesday morning. I asked my mom to not wake me up if she had them that night because I had a marching band competition that fallowing day. When I woke up my mom informed me that Daisy had indeed had her puppies that morning. I went in to see the new puppy. She was the cutest thing ever! She fits right in my hand it’s 2 so cute. Then on Saturday we took her to get her dew-clawed and had her tail sniped, in other words its 1 tail had to be cut off. Because they are so small, they have to get their tails cut so it won’t 9 be so big on them. It’s funny when she tries to play with the other dogs’ toys. When I’m gone it’s my parents’ responsibility to watch her. Her eyes and ears aren’t even opened yet. It will be another couple of days before they start to open. We were told that the Jones 3 family wants to buy her. Lucy will be the Jones’s 5 dog. I asked my mom what the Jonses’ names were, but she didn’t know. So in the mean time the she will just keep getting bigger and bigger.
On Tuesday, I had a marching band competition at BYU. On our way, there Garret, a person in my section, was showing me all these pictures on his 6 iPod, and laughing at me because I didn’t get what it was trying to portray. However, when we got there I was happy and ready to do the show. When we were on the field, I performed my best field show that I have ever done. In the end it paid off. When the judges were announcing the winners, they announced American Fork as 2nd place we went crazy. Since they got second, it meant that Davis High came in first place. We were so, so, so happy! Davis High hasn’t beaten American Fork for 5 years until now. On the bus ride there everyone had so much fun. So when we got there we were pumped and ready for the show. The show really fun to perform and to make it even better we receive first place! Marching band is the best.
Then on Friday, night Brenna and I hung out, and watched a movie and  ate pizza. We were planning on watching a scary movie but we couldn’t figure out what movie to watch so we watched Thor. That night was so much fun. I showed Brenna Lucy, our puppy, and she just loved her. She held Lucy during the entire show. She kept saying that she wished Lucy was hers 6. Every night should be as much fun as that night.
I had another marching band competition Saturday night and this time it was at USU. That competition was also really fun. When the awards were announced we didn’t do as well as last time... We placed 2nd and ‘American Fark’ placed 1st. We made a lot children’ mistakes...  Man, we thought we did so good. But apparently the judges didn’t think the same way as we did. It was still so much fun. J
Wow my week was really jammed pack with fun nights. My dog had her puppies, I hung out with Brenna and I had two marching band competitions.

Driving

A couple weeks ago I obtained my driving permit. Driving has always been an excitement for me in my life. For as long as I can remember I have always been counting down. From the years then as time passed it was only months then only days until I could drive. I didn't get my permit on my birthday because I had marching band with Davis High School. Then my parents were at work and didn't get off until the DMV place had closed. So it took me a whole good two weeks until I could get my permit.
When I was filling out the paper work and doing all the tests I was more worried about not passing the eye examine more than the driving test itself. Even though I had only skimmed through the driving book. Anyways when I did the eye exam/ test I passed with flying colors. Well I guess not exactly with fly colors but you know what I mean. So after the paperwork was all done I was sent to go take the test. The test was on a touch screen computer thing, I’m not sure how to explain it, you will just have to see for yourself. So I completed the test and I got 86% on my first time. The lowest you can get to pass is 80% so I did well enough to get my permit.
My first time driving I took my little brother to his soccer game. My dad didn’t feel comfortable with me doing left hand turns on busy streets so he drove on the busy, main streets and then let me take over once the traffic was less traffic. I only drove a little bit that first day but it was really, really, really, really, really, and many more “reallys” fun.
I have gotten a lot more practice sense then. I have driven on busy and congested roads, but I don’t want to drive on the highway or the freeway just yet, I know that I’m not ready for that. But I did go 35 m/h once and that my friend was just about the funniest thing I have ever done. I can’t wait until I can drive on the freeway and the highway. I wish this song was on the radio one of the times I have been driving it would have been so cool.

Well, life's like a road that you travel on

There's one day here and the next day gone
Sometimes you bend, sometimes you stand
Sometimes you turn your back to the wind

There's a world outside every darkened door

Where Blues won't haunt you anymore

For the brave are free and lovers soar

Come ride with me to the distant shore

We won't hesitate
To break down the guarding gate

There's not much time left today, yeay

Life is a highway, I wanna ride it
 All night long
If you're going my way, I wanna drive it

All night long

Through all these cities and all these towns

It's in my blood and it's all around
I love now like I loved you then
This is the road and these are the hands

From Mozambique to those Memphis nights

The Khyber Pass to Vancouver's lights

They knock me down

And back up again

You're in my blood

I'm not a lonely man
There's no load I can't hold

The road's so rough this I know

I'll be there when the light comes in

Just tell 'em we're survivors

Life is a highway, I wanna ride it
All night long If your going my way,
I wanna drive it All night long

Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, yeah

Life is a highway, I wanna ride it
 All night long (mmmm yeah)

If your going my way, I wanna drive it

All night long

There was a distance between you and I
(between you and I) A misunderstanding once

But now, we look it in the eye

Ooooo...Yeah!

There ain't no load that I can't hold
The road's so rough this I know

I'll be there when the light comes in
 Just tell 'em we're survivors

Life is a highway, I wanna ride it

All night long (all night long, yeah hey)
If your going my way, I wanna drive it

All night long

Life is a highway, I wanna ride it

All night long
If your going my way, I wanna drive it
All night long

Life is a highway, I wanna ride it
 All night long

If your going my way,
I wanna drive it All night long

Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, yeah

family fun

I have a lot of favorite songs but Tonight Tonight by Hot Chelle Rae is mine and my brothers theme song. For this blog I'm going to share it with you.

It's been a really, really messed up week
Seven days of torture, seven days of bitter

And my girlfriend went and cheated on me

She's a California dime but it's time for me to quit her

La, la, la, whatever
La, la, la, it doesn't matter
 La, la, la, oh well
 La, la, la

We're goin' at it tonight, tonight
There's a party on the rooftop
Top of the world tonight, tonight
And we're dancin' on the edge of the Hollywood sign

I don't know if I'll make it

But watch how good I'll fake it

It's all right, all right, tonight, tonight

I woke up with a strange tattoo
Not sure how I got it, not a dollar in my pocket

And it kinda looks just like you

 Mixed with Zach Galifianakis

La, la, la, whatever
La, la, la, it doesn't matter
 La, la, la, oh well
 La, la, la

We're goin' at it tonight, tonight

There's a party on the rooftop

Top of the world tonight, tonight
And we're dancin' on the edge of the Hollywood sign

I don't know if I'll make it
But watch how good I'll fake it

It's all right, all right, tonight, tonight

You got me singin' like
 Whoa, come on

Oh, it doesn't matter

Whoa, everybody now, oh

Just don't stop, let's keep the beat pumpin'
Keep the beat up, let's drop the beat down
It's my party, dance if I want to

We can get crazy, let it all out

Just don't stop, let's keep the beat pumpin'
Keep the beat up, let's drop the beat down
It's my party, dance if I want to
We can get crazy, let it all out

It's you and me and we're runnin' this town
And it's me and you and we're shakin' the ground
And ain't nobody gonna tell us to go

'Cause this is our show

Everybody

Whoa, come on

 Oh, all you animals

Whoa, let me hear you now, oh

Tonight, tonight

There's a party on the rooftop

Tonight, tonight

And we're dancin' on the edge of the Hollywood sign

I don't know if I'll make it

But watch how good I'll fake it

It's all right, all right, tonight, tonight

It's all right, all right, tonight, tonight

Yeah, it's all right, all right, tonight, tonight

Just singin' like whoa, come on
 Oh, all you party people
 Whoa, all you singletons
 Oh, even the white kids

Just don't stop, let's keep the beat pumpin'

Keep the beat up, let's drop the beat down

It's my party, dance if I want to
We can get crazy, let it all out
