sissy's blogs

I have been fallowing my sister’s blog. These are the summaries of some posts that she has.

Dreams

She has been having really strong dreams lately. One dream is about her getting married. She can’t see her husbands face and she can’t remember all the details but she just remembers having really strong feelings about this man. Her other dream is about having a baby. She was handed a bundle of blankets in the hospital and she realized it was her son. But she is a single mother in college. She had to make a decision on weather or not to keep him or give him up for adoption. In the end she chooses adoption.

Memories

She lists a lot of memories that she has had, from childhood to now. For example some of the memories on the list are: dancing in the rain, skipping Spanish class to go to the mall, lying awake at night thinking of him, meeting Jon Schmidt, childhood play dates and many more.

Technology

She tells a story about when she was at work a little girl about 8 years old and she had this nice, sleek cell phone with a touch screen. She says that a little 8 year old does not need a cell phone that nice or even a cell phone at all. Then she goes on and talks about all the advances in technology over the past 20 or so years and how it’s really amazing.

Never grow up

She talks about how much she likes ‘Never Grow Up’ by Taylor Swift and what the lyrics mean to her. Then she put the songs lyrics on there for everyone to read.

Reasons to hate working in fast food

She used to work at a fast food restaurant. So she gives a list on why you should hate working at a fast food restaurant. These are some of her reasons: working until 1:30 am, getting a 2nd degree burn on one of the many hot appliances and being surround in fatty grease. Then she tells about how happy that she got a new job and not having to work there anymore.

An Update on Everything

She started playing the guitar and she is teaching herself. She is trying to learn Teardrops on My Guitar and You Belong With Me by Taylor Swift. She is glad that she can have music in her life now. She is also trying to figure out where she is going to college over the summer, either at Utah State or Weber. She doesn’t know where yet but she wants to get done with schooling as soon as possible so she can move to Seattle, Washington.

Super Bowl 46 2012

So the 46th Super Bowl was today and we were talking as a family on how much money, time, energy, and everything else spent on this one football game. It’s insane. People go all out for this game. They will buy shirts, hats, hands, jerseys, sweats; you name it they probably bought it. They will paint their faces the color of the team to show how much they love them. They will buy all of this food to eat for the game.
Sure my family watches the game but we are not insane about it. We pick a team to root for, but we don’t jump up and down screaming about the game. We just sit and talk as a family and hardly watch it. I don’t know how people could be that devoted to a football game. There are more important things than a football game in life. For my family, the game is a time to be together as a family and have fun. We don’t treat this game as a life or death situation.
For the half time show, they went all out. They had dancers and lights everywhere, singers, and so many things that I don’t even know where to start. They spend so much money for about 30 minutes in one day of amusement and entertainment. They should spend all that money on something that is worthwhile.
My favorite part about the super bowl is the commercials. I just love to watch them. They are probably better than the game it’s self. They desperately want you to buy their product, that it’s not even funny how bad it is. They try so hard, but in the long run all they do is give you a great conversation starter. Like, “hey did you see that Doritos commercial with the baby?”  See a great conversation starter when you don’t have anything to talk about. Personally that is my favorite part of the whole day. Not watching the game but watching the commercials that come with the game.
·         So I looked up some facts that go with the Super Bowl. The stadium is called the Lucas Oil stadium and can hold about 70,000 people.
·          It’s the second most watched sports event in the world.
·         One 30-second super bowl commercial costs about 2,800,000 dollars.
·          The Super Bowl trophy is called the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
·          8 million pounds of guacamole is consumed on Super Bowl day.
·         14,500 tons of chips are eaten along with that guacamole.
·         35% of people who attend the game write it off as a corporate expense.
·         The average number of people at a super bowl party is 17.
·         Budweiser has been the exclusive Super Bowl beer advertiser for the past 13 years.
As you can see the Super Bowl is a big thing for some people and for others it’s just another day. The Super bowl is expensive and time consuming. But hey that’s the world for ya.

the move

So I moved over the course of this week. It was an experience that I have never experienced before. We had been trying to get this house for about 6 months. My mom wanted to have a bigger gathering area so when we have extended family over we have room to put them. So that’s what sparked the idea of moving. At first it started off of just “oh it would be nice to move” and that kind of thing. So we got an agent and we set off house searching. I think we probably looked at around 30 houses. Most of our weekends were filled with looking at a couple of houses each day. Then we found this house. But we couldn’t get an appointment to come and see it. So we drove by the house and my mom suggested that we go ask and see if we could look inside the house. They were a very nice family, and said yea it was no problem. So we looked inside and we really liked it. The walls were painted really weird patterns and colors but other than that we really liked the house. So we kept on it put an offer on the house and did all of this stuff and after about 6 months we got the news that they accepted our offer and we could continue to get the house. Then after another additional 1 and a half months we signed and got the house.
It took us a couple weeks to completely move in. We started packing and taking non essential items over to the new place to the basement. Then this past weekend not yesterday but the weekend before, we had the big moving day. It took only took about half of the day to move the rest of the stuff to the new house. It didn’t take very long. We had a big turnout of help, (which we all appreciated very much.) But I forgot to tell you that before all of the moving that took place we had to get everything painted and the carpets cleaned. Like I said before, very briefly, they had very weird and abstract designs and colors on their walls. The lines were not straight, there were pink, purple, orange and every other color except blue was painted in that house. There were zigzag lines up and down the walls and none of the lines were straight. So we had the entire house painted. It took 2 weeks and 5 people to paint the house. It took a whole lot of time and effort. We found their job chart and the people before us only vacuumed once a month. So the carpets were very, very, very dirty. So they were also cleaned. We had many more exciting experiences with this house, but now we are mostly moved in and settled. I can’t wait for that day to unpack the last box and move in that last piece of furniture. Oh what a great day that would be. I will never forget my first move. J

Breakfast with Santa & the Forgotten Carols

Over the weekend, I went to see the Forgotten Carols and I went to volunteer for breakfast for Santa. It was a fun weekend because my sister came home for this special event. She is usually away in Logan attending Utah State University, so this was a unique time.
On Friday was when we went to the Forgotten Carols.  It was shown at Cottonwood High School. It was a long drive to get there but in the end, it was worth it. The play is about a nurse, Connie Lou, who works a lot and is a workaholic. Then her boss thinks she works too much and has her go to a patient’s house to help him out. The play goes on to tell some Christmas stories that the old man, Jon, has to share. As he tells these holiday stories, Connie Lou’s outlook on Christmas changes for the better, she realizes the true meaning of it.
My favorite part of this play was all of the stories and songs. For each story, there was a carol to go with it. My favorite carol would have to be the Inn Keeper’s. His carol is about how he should have let Mary and Joseph into the Inn for the night instead of sending them away. This song was very well written. I liked it so much; I even have the song on my iPod so I can listen to it when I feel like it.
After the late night Friday, we got up early and went to volunteer for Breakfast with Santa at Thanksgiving Point. We had an extra seat in our van so my dad said that I could invite a friend to come with us, I decided to invite Brenna Sorenson. She is one of my best friends and was an easy choice to choose her. My dad and I went to pick up Brenna while everyone else finished getting ready. When we got there, she was not coming out, so I called her. The operator on the phone said that it was not able to go through. So I went and knocked on her window. I was afraid that I would scare her when I did this. But she was not even up yet, her alarm didn’t go off. So she woke up when I knocked on her window. She realized that we were within for her and she hurried and got ready. Then we went and picked up our family and we were off to Breakfast with Santa. When we got there Brenna, my brother Garry, and I were stationed at a table where we would help kids make snowman out of candy. The little kids were so cute. They were so excited when we said that they could eat the extra candy corn. They would get the biggest smile on their face. It was cute. After everyone left, we were told that we could go ahead and eat.  After we ate, we loaded back into the van and went home.
This weekend was so much fun, from the Forgotten Carols to Breakfast with Santa. All of this made my weekend so much fun. I just love my family and friends.

Thanksgiving

Since Thanksgiving is next week I thought I would talk about thanks giving. Thanksgiving is not one of my favorite holidays. As for the rest of my family they just love it. I don’t hate it or anything; I just don’t particularly like it. I think that it’s a waste of a day. You have to bake all day and then stuff yourself with as much food as you can. I don’t like a lot of traditional foods that you have at the dinner table on Thanksgiving. For example I don’t like stuffing or yams. I don’t like turkey which people think is weird. I am also not very fond of pies or desserts. I will eat them, but I just can’t have very much. I do however like what Thanksgiving stands for and symbolizes. I like how it remembers the pilgrims and their good harvest and how thankful they were for everything.
Here are some symbols of Thanksgiving.
1.     Cornucopia stands for the good harvest.
2.     Turkey is a reminder of the “Four Wild Turkeys” served during the first Thanksgiving feast.
3.     Corn is a reminder of the importance and heritage of the harvest festival.
4.     Cranberries with its pink blossoms and drooping head reminded the ancient pilgrims of a crane.
5.     There is the pumpkin
There are so many more, I only gave you a small number of the many symbols of Thanksgiving. There is also a song that goes along with Thanksgiving.  Here it is.
Thanksgiving Day Turkey Song
O turkey dear
O turkey dear
How lovely are thy feathers

O turkey dear
O turkey dear
There could be nothing better!

We celebrate Thanksgiving Day
By putting your carcass on display.

O turkey dear
O turkey dear
You thought we were friends who came to greet you.

O turkey dear
O turkey dear
We gathered here to eat you!

O turkey day
O turkey day
The family is all together

O turkey day
O turkey day
We've over come bad weather

Seeing the family is so fab
We'll see ya'll again in rehab.

O turkey day
O turkey day
We'll drink away your memory.
I think my favorite line is “O turkey dear O turkey dear We gathered here to eat you!” Isn’t it just a comforting line for the turkey? A turkey probably heard this and was scared dead. He didn’t even get shot. Just when he heard this he was so scared that he died. Isn’t that just horrible?
There is so much on Thanksgiving. I only gave you a few things about this what some people call awesome holiday. Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. :)

Family Fun

I had another fun weekend. My parents planed a trip to Las Vegas to visit my uncle for his birthday, but he got sick and his wife, my aunt, asked us not to come because of how bad he was feeling. So instead of going to Las Vegas my parents took my brothers and I to Lehi and stayed there overnight. Since my sister was away at college working, she wasn’t able to get the time off and come with us, so I got the bed to myself while my bothers had to share one. I have never had a bed to myself so that just made my day.
So we got to Lehi around 7 o’clock. We checked into our hotel room and went to go eat dinner. It took us a while to decide where to go because I didn’t like Chinese food and everyone wanted to go to Panda Express. Finally we decided to go eat at Denny’s. Denny’s had pretty good food, and got us filled. So after we ate we went back to the hotel room and went to the pool. Everyone sat in the hot tub except for my little brother Parker; he went for a swim in the regular pool. We swam for a while then went back to our room watched TV and ate popcorn.
We had season passes to Trafalga, so we went there in the morning. At Trafalga we played black light laser tag and black light mini golfing.  Both were really fun. For black light laser tag you were “in New York” and had to save it from a bad guy. My family and I were always put in a group with a whole bunch of little kids. It drove me nuts! They were talking a whole bunch of trash. They kept saying that they would win because they have done this before and that they were the best. I was about to strangle them. It bugs me when people talk like that and brag. So to teach them a lesson my family and I set out to cream them. In the end we beat them big time. There was at least a 2,000 point difference between our two scores. When they realized that they didn’t win the little kids were saying that they felt bad for us and let us win and that they didn’t try their hardest. Oh man I sure wanted to strangle them…  Anyways we always won, we didn’t lose this time. As for black light mini golfing… well that’s a whole different story. I am a horrible golfer, and when I say horrible I mean horrible. It took me on average 7 tries before I could get it in the hole. My rest of my family though… they were amazing! My brother Garry shot the ball off the wall and made a hole in one. It was amazing! The rest of my family was making shots like that also.
My weekend as you have seen was very fun. I went to Lehi instead of Las Vegas but it turned out to be really fun. :)

Eventful Week

This week has been a very eventful week. There have been so many things that went on. First, my dog had her puppies, hung out with Brenna Sorenson, the Davis High Marching Band beat American Fork, and I had another marching band competition.
My dog, Daisy, had her puppies early Tuesday morning. I asked my mom to not wake me up if she had them that night because I had a marching band competition that fallowing day. When I woke up my mom informed me that Daisy had indeed had her puppies that morning. I went in to see the new puppy. She was the cutest thing ever! She fits right in my hand it’s 2 so cute. Then on Saturday we took her to get her dew-clawed and had her tail sniped, in other words its 1 tail had to be cut off. Because they are so small, they have to get their tails cut so it won’t 9 be so big on them. It’s funny when she tries to play with the other dogs’ toys. When I’m gone it’s my parents’ responsibility to watch her. Her eyes and ears aren’t even opened yet. It will be another couple of days before they start to open. We were told that the Jones 3 family wants to buy her. Lucy will be the Jones’s 5 dog. I asked my mom what the Jonses’ names were, but she didn’t know. So in the mean time the she will just keep getting bigger and bigger.
On Tuesday, I had a marching band competition at BYU. On our way, there Garret, a person in my section, was showing me all these pictures on his 6 iPod, and laughing at me because I didn’t get what it was trying to portray. However, when we got there I was happy and ready to do the show. When we were on the field, I performed my best field show that I have ever done. In the end it paid off. When the judges were announcing the winners, they announced American Fork as 2nd place we went crazy. Since they got second, it meant that Davis High came in first place. We were so, so, so happy! Davis High hasn’t beaten American Fork for 5 years until now. On the bus ride there everyone had so much fun. So when we got there we were pumped and ready for the show. The show really fun to perform and to make it even better we receive first place! Marching band is the best.
Then on Friday, night Brenna and I hung out, and watched a movie and  ate pizza. We were planning on watching a scary movie but we couldn’t figure out what movie to watch so we watched Thor. That night was so much fun. I showed Brenna Lucy, our puppy, and she just loved her. She held Lucy during the entire show. She kept saying that she wished Lucy was hers 6. Every night should be as much fun as that night.
I had another marching band competition Saturday night and this time it was at USU. That competition was also really fun. When the awards were announced we didn’t do as well as last time... We placed 2nd and ‘American Fark’ placed 1st. We made a lot children’ mistakes...  Man, we thought we did so good. But apparently the judges didn’t think the same way as we did. It was still so much fun. J
Wow my week was really jammed pack with fun nights. My dog had her puppies, I hung out with Brenna and I had two marching band competitions.

family fun

I have a lot of favorite songs but Tonight Tonight by Hot Chelle Rae is mine and my brothers theme song. For this blog I'm going to share it with you.

It's been a really, really messed up week
Seven days of torture, seven days of bitter

And my girlfriend went and cheated on me

She's a California dime but it's time for me to quit her

La, la, la, whatever
La, la, la, it doesn't matter
 La, la, la, oh well
 La, la, la

We're goin' at it tonight, tonight
There's a party on the rooftop
Top of the world tonight, tonight
And we're dancin' on the edge of the Hollywood sign

I don't know if I'll make it

But watch how good I'll fake it

It's all right, all right, tonight, tonight

I woke up with a strange tattoo
Not sure how I got it, not a dollar in my pocket

And it kinda looks just like you

 Mixed with Zach Galifianakis

La, la, la, whatever
La, la, la, it doesn't matter
 La, la, la, oh well
 La, la, la

We're goin' at it tonight, tonight

There's a party on the rooftop

Top of the world tonight, tonight
And we're dancin' on the edge of the Hollywood sign

I don't know if I'll make it
But watch how good I'll fake it

It's all right, all right, tonight, tonight

You got me singin' like
 Whoa, come on

Oh, it doesn't matter

Whoa, everybody now, oh

Just don't stop, let's keep the beat pumpin'
Keep the beat up, let's drop the beat down
It's my party, dance if I want to

We can get crazy, let it all out

Just don't stop, let's keep the beat pumpin'
Keep the beat up, let's drop the beat down
It's my party, dance if I want to
We can get crazy, let it all out

It's you and me and we're runnin' this town
And it's me and you and we're shakin' the ground
And ain't nobody gonna tell us to go

'Cause this is our show

Everybody

Whoa, come on

 Oh, all you animals

Whoa, let me hear you now, oh

Tonight, tonight

There's a party on the rooftop

Tonight, tonight

And we're dancin' on the edge of the Hollywood sign

I don't know if I'll make it

But watch how good I'll fake it

It's all right, all right, tonight, tonight

It's all right, all right, tonight, tonight

Yeah, it's all right, all right, tonight, tonight

Just singin' like whoa, come on
 Oh, all you party people
 Whoa, all you singletons
 Oh, even the white kids

Just don't stop, let's keep the beat pumpin'

Keep the beat up, let's drop the beat down

It's my party, dance if I want to
We can get crazy, let it all out
